Historian-in-residence

During Term 1, 2017 I have had the privilege of working in a primary school in Melbourne’s south-east. I worked with almost all the children (from Grade 1 to Grade 6) and alongside the teachers I have built a program that is interesting for the students and aligned with the curriculum. The older students have focused on producing a digital history, and along the way we have worked on research skills, finding and analysing sources and on telling a story from the past. The middle years are creating an exhibition that ties together objects, memory, family and identity and the younger children have focused on understanding and experiencing their local history. It has been a delight to be in the classroom and I look forward to doing this more often!

*Please note, these sessions are now available as live online workshops.
